An embedded display is a display with an integrated controller. This is usually used from the operating unit or for complex functions. So the display module already contains a more or less freely programmable controller or at least a controller with embedded functions. Embedded displays are easy to use, as they do not require an additional graphics controller or memory. Graphic functions are integrated and can be used immediately. All power supplies are generated onboard. The "embedded" concept makes it extremely easy for users to integrate a display.
Some embedded displays are supplied with a touch panel (PCAP or resitive) and can therefore accept input. They can therefore be used as a ready-to-use HMI (human-machine interface) (also called smart display).
